KATIE & SARAH

A Stylish City Wedding at The Mowbray & Chimney House

– KELHAM ISLAND, SHEFFIELD, YORKSHIRE-

Katie and Sarah’s wedding was one of those days that felt like a beautiful full-circle moment. I first met them a few years ago when they were guests at another wedding I was photographing.

Fast forward to their wedding, and I was thrilled when they got in touch to ask if I’d capture their day. It felt like catching up with old friends, which made their gorgeous industrial vibe Sheffield wedding all the more wonderful.

If you’re dreaming of a stylish, laid-back city wedding in the heart of Yorkshire, The Mowbray and The Chimney House in Sheffield are two of the most iconic venues around.

As a Sheffield wedding photographer, I get so excited when couples choose this incredible duo of spaces, as there’s just something electric about them, and they are incredible places to celebrate and throw a big ol’ party.

Getting Married at The Mowbray and The Chimney House in Sheffield

The Mowbray and The Chimney House are two of Sheffield’s most iconic wedding venues. Both are tucked away in the Kelham Island district, just a short walk from the city centre. Once an industrial heartland, Kelham Island has been transformed into one of the most vibrant and creative neighbourhoods in Sheffield. It is full of independent bars, restaurants and studios, and has become a favourite spot for couples who want a city wedding with a bit of soul.

The Mowbray is set in a beautifully restored former steelworks building, full of original features like exposed brick, tall arched windows and high ceilings. It feels grand but welcoming and is ideal for couples who want a stylish space with personality. Just around the corner, The Chimney House offers something slightly more intimate. It has a cosy, candle-lit atmosphere with wooden floors, antique furniture and views over the River Don.

One of the main reasons people book these venues is the flexibility they offer. You can use both buildings throughout your day or choose one that fits your plans. Some couples get ready at The Chimney House and then walk over to The Mowbray for the ceremony and reception. Others use The Mowbray for everything from start to finish. The team behind both spaces is known for being creative, helpful and completely dedicated to making each wedding unique.

Together, these two venues create the perfect blend of city style, Sheffield character and thoughtful design. They suit couples who want a modern wedding that still feels warm, relaxed and full of atmosphere. If you are planning a celebration in the city and looking for somewhere with history, charm and amazing food, The Mowbray and The Chimney House are worth a visit.
